New York City Is the New Place to Be for StartupsSilicon Valley, we all know, is the epicenter of the tech world. Google and Facebook call it home, along with thousands of other start-ups. And the talent pool, from elite schools such as Stanford, CalTech, and Berkeley, is unmatched. But New York City is making a move to become a great tech city as well. In fact, over the last ten years, venture capital deals have increased by 157% in the New York metro area, compared to 32% in Silicon Valley. One reason for the Big Apple's surge is its culture. New York, unlike any city in the world, is a melting pot of diversity. The range of industries, customers, and workers is truly impressive, and it fosters creativity in ways that likely wouldn't be possible in other places — even Silicon Valley.
