ทำไมคนจึงไม่อยากฟังการประชุม

จากการสำรวจครั้งใหม่ดูเหมือนไม่มีใครสนใจกับ
การเรียกประชุมทางไกลแบบไม่เห็นหน้าค่าตาคนเข้าประชุม
หรือมีกล้องจับภาพคนเข้าประชุมแต่ไม่สามารถซูมได้ชัดเจน
จริง ๆ ทุกคนก็รู้อยู่แล้ว  แน่นอน  พวกเราต่างเคยทำเช่นกัน
พวกเราต่างทำเป็นตั้งอกตั้งใจฟังการประชุมครั้งนี้
แต่แน่นอน  บางคนทำงานประจำไปด้วยพลาง ๆ ระหว่างนั่งฟัง
บางคนกำลังรับส่ง/ตอบข้อความในอีเมล์  บางคนกินขนม
บางคนกำลังเล่น facebok twitter ฯลฯ หรือ ช้อปปิ้งออนไลน์

การที่มีพฤติกรรมแบบนี้ทำได้อย่างง่ายดาย
เพราะความห่างไกลของระยะทางสื่อสาร
และการประชุมแบบทางไกล
ที่ไม่สามารถควบคุมได้แบบในห้องประชุม
แต่สาเหตุที่แท้จริง คือ ความเบื่อหน่าย/ระอาเรื่องการประชุม
ที่มักจะมีการประชุมมากเกินไปกว่าความจำเป็น

แนวทางแก้ไขเริ่มต้นคือ 
ตกลงที่จะจัดกำหนดการประชุมเฉพาะเรื่องที่จำเป็น 
และยอมรับการเชิญผู้ร้องเรียนรายสำคัญที่สุด
ผู้บริหารคนสำคัญที่สุดเข้าร่วมประชุม
จะทำให้การประชุมมีส่วนร่วมกันมากขึ้น
หรือเรียกว่าทุกคนสามารถได้รับการแจ้งเตือนภัย
และสร้างความกระตือรือร้นในการประชุมมากขึ้น

Why People Aren’t Really Listening on Your Conference Call

According to a new survey, no one seems to pay attention when they dial in to a conference call from a remote location. But you knew that already, right? Because you’ve zoned out during a call. We all have. So what are we all doing when pretending to pay attention? Well, some of us are doing work-related tasks such as answering emails, while others are eating food, checking social media, and shopping online. One could easily point to our limited attention spans as the cause for our distracted states. But the real reason we’re so distracted is that we’re asked to participate in far too many conference calls to begin with. A solution: If we all agreed to schedule calls only when necessary, and if we all agreed to invite only the most essential participants to take part in said calls, we’d all be far more alert and enthusiastic.
