It Can’t Hurt to Reach Out to Powerful People Via Email
Many of us are reluctant to drop an email to an intimidating and powerful person. It might feel awkward, or we may worry about wasting his or her time or about simply being ignored. But there’s good reason to get over the fear and reach out to people in power. CEOs and other leaders are thirsty for insight from the front lines. A concise email to the right person can open up new possibilities for learning and growth, or help solve a major problem — for both of you. So try it sometime. Just ask: What’s the worst thing that can happen? And: What’s the best thing? You may be surprised at the response you get.
